To catch a tarantula hanging from a tree, presses SL and points to the Pokémon that hangs from the tree. Then press ZR and you will throw a poke ball.

You can also bend down and quietly approach Pokémon by pressing B.

How to evolve to tarantula in RAPIDS in scarlet and violet Pokémon

Tarantula evolves to IDP PAS at level 15. The good news is that there are no other requirements for the evolution process to begin. Simply reach level 15 and once the battle ends, or after you have finished giving it a weird candy, the animation of evolution will be reproduced.

If, for some reason, you did not want to evolve to Tarantula, you can hold B during animation. However, keep in mind that you should do this every time your level rise level beyond level 15, otherwise, will only evolve to RAPIDS.
